In 1881, the Northamptonshire Productive Society [NPS], a shoe making cooperative, was founded in Northamptonshire, England. NPS owns the Solovair brand. In the 1960s, NPS collaborated with R. Griggs Group Ltd to produce Dr Martens boots. In 1995, NPS trademarked the Solovair name and began producing their own air-cushioned footwear under the established Solovair brand.
